I found an interesting article on Careerealism.com which lists the 10 qualities that make a person likable. I agree with it wholeheartedly.
As we all know, the likability factor is HUGE in getting hired, promoted, receiving social favors, and creating real and enduring friendships.
To me, it's not a matter of feigning these qualities, but using them as a blueprint to really become a more likeable person through consistency of effort, at which time they - and you - become genuine.
The 10 qualites are:
- Have a positive attitude
- Be engaged, passionate
- Be of good Humor
- Assume goodwill
- Give compliments
- Control your insecurities
- Be a good listener
- Be flexible
- Pay attention to manners, grooming, and language
- Humility
