Why Black Men Can't Breathe

Black men can't breathe because the audacity of hope they so fervently believed in, starting in 2008, has begun to fade....

Black men can't breathe because despite being born into society's invisible chokehold at birth; a chokehold that is only eased with love, support, education, and equality, seems to be stronger than most have realized, or have been reluctant to admit...

Black men can't breathe because 72% of all black children are born to single black mothers; producing inadequate role models that have proven to be a key component in facilitating positive child characteristics such as empathy, self-esteem, psychological well-being, social competence, life skills, and self-control - which may explain their propensity (or perceptions thereof) to be non-compliant during a police arrest...

Black men can't breathe because Oscar Grant, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, _____________ (fill in the blank) serve as a painful reminder that for every 1 white male killed by the police, 22 black males are killed - and the frequency and list is growing....

Black men can't breathe because they, their brothers, uncles, cousins, and sons can be added to that list....
